A grand and joyous welcome back to the Super League for the devoted supporters of the #MightyTrin! Following in the footsteps of the Leigh Leopards and Hull KR, Trinity has embraced their championship season as a transformative journey, redefining their culture and aspirations both on and off the field. As the champions of the 2024 1895 Cup, League Leaders Shield, and Championship Grand Final return to the pinnacle of the sport, they carry with them a refreshing absence of external pressure. Instead, they are infused with an internal confidence and a hopeful spirit, ready to dazzle and surprise this season.

Daryl Powell has been diligently weaving together a tapestry of talent, recruiting no fewer than 12 fresh faces to enhance the brilliance of his 2024 squad. Eager for redemption after two tempestuous seasons at the Warrington Wolves. These signings can be encapsulated in a single word: "astute." Both Jake Truman and Oliver Russell possess the potential to forge one of the most formidable halfback duos, adept at committing defences with their cunning tricks and agile footwork.
The youthful exuberance of Josh Rourke, Corey Hall, Neil Tchamambe, and Caius Faatili promises to illuminate any contest they grace. Seth Nikotemo emerges as a player reminiscent of the likes of Kai O'Donnell or Chris McQueen, embodying a spirit of tenacity. Meanwhile, the remaining recruits are seasoned professionals, destined to provide invaluable leadership and motivation, guiding their comrades both on the field and beyond.
Super League Raw had the pleasure of speaking to Oliver Russell in a latest episode of "In Conversation", if you missed be sure to catch it as a podcast on Apple or Spotify.
In the realm of leadership, let us raise our glasses in celebration of Daryl Powell for appointing Mike McMeeken as captain for 2025. The 2017 Super League Dream Teamer possesses forward attributes that are truly rare. His keen eye for an assist or offload strikes with the swift precision of a Venus flytrap. With nimble feet for one of his stature, weighing in at 15 stone 3 pounds, he has the prowess to tackle bust through defences with ease. Furthermore, during a 2024 episode of 'In Conversation' Mike embodied his exemplary leadership temperament, perfectly suited to aid Daryl Powell in guiding Trinity to magnificent new heights in the years to come.
A player shrouded in mystery for many may be none other than Trinity's own Lachlan Walmsley, wearing the number two. In the sensational year of 2024, he graced the field for Trinity 32 times, weaving magic with an impressive 27 tries, one of which came in the 1895 final against the Sheffield Eagles. At just 26 years of age, he is poised to embark on his Super League debut this season, having previously donned the colours of Whitehaven and the Halifax Panthers since 2021. A proud Scotland international, he has also dipped his toes into the Canterbury Cup with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The anticipation surrounding his performance this season fills us with excitement and wonder.
Yet, it seems only fitting to leave Max Jowitt for last. In the previous season, Jowitt etched his name in history as the first British player to amass 500 points, a dazzling feat achieved through 26 tries and 198 goals over 34 matches, as Wakefield triumphed over all challengers. With the prodigious talent of Josh Rourke nipping at his heels, Max will approach his selection with a prudent heart. Nevertheless, he will commence the season in the coveted position of Full Back, with the onus on others to unseat him. A player of keen intellect, Max navigates the field with the timing, elegance, and precision reminiscent of a finely crafted Rolex. Like his teammates who faced the shadow of relegation at the close of 2023, Max is resolute and driven, ready to right the wrongs of the past.
Many folks might predict Trinity hitting rock bottom by season's end, but we aren't ready to pitch that plot twist to Hollywood just yet! So, buckle up, Trinity fans—this wild ride is about to get thrilling, and you're going to absolutely adore every twist and turn!
