The England women’s Rugby League squad poised to challenge the Jillaroos in Vegas has been unveiled, showcasing a blend of familiar faces and notable absences. Georgia Roche returns to the fold after yet another triumphant season across the seas with the Newcastle Knights, joined by Paige Travis, who is eager to embark on her inaugural journey as an Eel in the Women’s NRL. Canberra Raider Hollie-Mae Dodd has also secured her place in the final 20-player ensemble.
Georgie Dagger, making her return after missing England’s dazzling 82-0 triumph over Wales—due to her wedding day—joins Tamzin Renouf and the formidable Yorke prop Jasmine Bell, who shone brilliantly during the playoff finale. Huddersfield’s Amelia Brown steps aside for Dagger, while Wigan’s Jenna Foubister is set to take the place of her teammate Izzy Rowe, who has reportedly sustained a hamstring injury.
A conspicuous absence from the squad is St Helens’ Emily Rudge, who did not make the final cut—only time will unravel whether coach Stuart Barrow's decision was the wisest. Savannah Andrade and Lacey Owen also find themselves unfortunate to be omitted from the initial training cohort of 31 that gathered over the summer.

On the Australian front, a wealth of talent awaits, with the likes of Isabelle Kelly, Tarryn Aiken, and Ali Briggenshaw among their ranks. Long-serving coach Brad Donald stepped down last week amid an inquiry into remarks made about a journalist following last year's Pacific Championships. Interim coach Jess Skinner swiftly reinstated Olivia Kernick and Keeley Davis to the squad, as Donald faced widespread criticism for excluding Kernick just days after she was crowned the NRLW’s best player.

In the realm of domestic news, the York Valkyrie have proudly announced the signing of Australian half-back Ellie Williamson. The spirited 21-year-old, formerly a Bulldog, has graced the Origin stage at under-18s level. In her inaugural interview with the club, she boldly declared her ambition to reach the Grand Final and seize victory—who could possibly contest such fervor!
Meanwhile, Barrow Raiders have revealed their squad numbers, with the newly appointed captain Emily Stirzaker proudly donning the number 11 shirt. She steps into the skipper's role following the retirement of Jodie Litherland, who now takes the helm as the Under-19’s women’s head coach. Beth Pattinson returns to the club after welcoming her second child and will wear the number 7 jersey.
