Leeds Rhinos 38 - 24 Castleford Tigers
The Leeds Rhinos took to the field without their starting halves, Brodie Croft and Matt Frawley, but their absence went unnoticed. Jack Sinfield and Morgan Gannon were tasked with leading the Rhinos against the Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Super League, and they delivered some of the most impressive attacking rugby league that fans have witnessed this season, aided by the contributions of Jake Connor.
Let's take a look back at the game:

Not impressed. Very sloppy towards the end. If we're gonna compete with the big guns, we've got to tighten up in defence. With all respect to Cas, they're not the best team that we're gonna compete against this season. 2 points though, so not all negative. Onwards and upwards. Keith Brook
Fell in love with outselves last 20 mins, complacency seems to be an issue with this team, like the Wakefield game. Needs to be cut out, but also probably best thing that could have happened so it doesn’t happen against Catalans. Eddie Howgate
Good win. Let cas get abit too happy at the end but in fairness tired legs and some errors in the last 10 is hard to eliminate. Wigan did the same yesterday. Joel Wood

Not withstanding the poor defensive effort why do we keep persisting with 1 out Rugby all the time when we haven't got the size to go through teams? Maybe Leeds did switch off a bit but when we moved the ball we looked useful. Not saying we should do this every set but in our current state we might be better off trying to go round teams rather than through them? Kevin Schofield
Don’t want no apology given to fans for that. All we wanted was improvement. For the first time in years me and my dad are officially not going anymore until things improve. Completely ruined our spirit for the club. Been through 2 relegations and back but if there was no franchise this year it’d be us for a 3rd time. Never seen a more disconnected team and lacking a go forward. It’s by far the smallest team I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t even get out of our own 20 in 5 tackles. It’s embarrassing, but good luck to Danny McGuire cos he’s got his hands full with this lot. Brad Shaw
You reap what you sow. How many times has a player left and has been replaced with an as good or better player since 2017? New regime need to fix this or its going to be the same week in and week out, hopefully trust in the process. Darren Holmes
The Final Word
Leeds Rhinos' young talents, Morgan Gannon and Jack Sinfield, demonstrated their potential in the halves versus the Castleford Tigers. Stellar contributions from Ash Handley, James Bentley, and Jake Connor provided the Leeds supporters with memorable moments to cherish at Headingley. With two victories from three matches and both the Salford Red Devils and the Catalan Dragons—initially viewed as serious playoff contenders—currently sitting at zero points, the Rhinos are undoubtedly pleased to have gained an early advantage over their rivals in the season. As they prepare to face the Catalan Dragons next, the prospects for further breathing room look promising.
At the 51-minute mark, Danny McGuire likely felt akin to a gremlin in a microwave, on the verge of exploding due to his team's lackluster performance. However, by the 80th minute, he could only feel relieved and impressed by his squad's determination to work tirelessly until the final whistle, ultimately restoring some respectability to the scoreline. Despite the evident effort and willpower, it is clear that the Tigers are struggling with depth and quality this season. The forward pack appears somewhat lightweight, particularly exacerbated by the departure of Liam Watts. For the Tigers to secure a finish above 11th place this season, strategic investments in key areas of their roster will be essential. Noteworthy performances have come from Fletcher Rooney and Jeremiah Simbiken, who have both excelled in the opening rounds.
