Castleford Tigers 14 - 24 Hull FC
The Rugby League community was treated to an impressive display of tries at The Jungle, as Hull FC continued their strong start to the 2025 Betfred Super League season against the Castleford Tigers. On a night when Herman Ese’Ese committed to the Airlie Birds for an additional three years, he marked this milestone with a powerful and skillful try. Herman once again demonstrated his status as the most formidable front-rower in the competition, achieving eight tackle busts and amassing 141 meters from 15 carries throughout the match. Truly exceptional performance!
The Castleford Tigers appear to be elevating their performance against teams from Hull this season, demonstrating several positive developments from their recent match. The left edge, comprising Mellor, Wood, and Senior, showed promising signs of regaining their synergy. Rowan Milnes' try exemplified the team's capacity for wide, expansive play, while Dan Okoro demonstrated the potential to evolve into a highly competent and respected player in the middle for years to come. This performance was notably stronger than their previous outing against the Dragons, providing a source of encouragement for the team moving forward.
The final accolades should be directed towards Hull FC, who demonstrated composure, structure, and discipline throughout the match. Aidan Sezer is firmly in contention for the Man of Steel award, delivering yet another stellar performance characterized by a strong and intelligent running game, as well as a reliable and precise kicking game. Anticipation builds for next week when Sezer and Mikey Lewis will face off for the first time.
Another notable performer was Tom Briscoe, who showcased a remarkable return to form at The Jungle. His running line that set up Aidan Sezer's try was exceptionally executed, and he fully deserved to score his own try moments later. Hull FC appears to be a formidable team in 2025, and the Robins will undoubtedly face a challenging matchup next week.
Watch these wonderful tries again folks, you won't be disappointed:

We can blame the ref etc. But ultimately players have to be held accountable. Why did we start to play 5 mins from the end? Hull taking their foot off the gas, maybe. We haven't put enough effort in earlier on in the game? Who knows. If we have enough energy to take it to the opposition at minute 75, we have not tried hard enough in the earlier stages of the game for me. We need some big forwards desperately, we need the halves to control the game irrespective of the forwards performance. Our props need to watch Mellor hit the ball up and ask themselves, are they as committed to getting the team up the field, the answer is no. That is accountability! Do your job on that field and leave nothing in the tank. We may start to push teams closer to the wire.
I thought there was a marked improvement on the catalans game,it was good to see that they played until the 80th minute & didn't let there heads drop with some contentious decisions from both the referee & the video ref. I don't think as a team we are too far off it we just need to keep improving I personally think hopefully we can get some new players in to help bolster the pack . Let's as supporters get behind the team, the club in the hands of Martin Jepson will turn thing's around on & off the field COYF. Mark Stephenson
Couple of wrong decisions, could of been a different game. Captains challenge in 1st half was stupid not to. Senior shouldn't have been sent off. Both decisions led to a try for hull. Didn't expect to win the game, but we put the effort in compared to recent games. #

Another win COYH certainly scrappy in the second half with some areas to concentrate on but still a win for us all the same. Now let’s rev up for next week to quash the red and whites Wayne Guest
Well done on the win boys. Need to clean these errors up. The dobbins will not give us an inch and will certainly punish us if we make these mistakes. Need another Wigan beating performance from you lads. The black and white faithful are all behind you. COYH.👍🏉
