Hull FC 4 - 46 Wigan Warriors
The Warriors delivered an outstanding performance in the first half, with Abbas Miski, Patrick Mago, and Jai Field each scoring tries, while Adam Kieghran successfully contributed six points from conversions. Although Wigan conceded the first points after the restart, additional tries from Tom Forber, Jake Wardle, Bevan French, and Field ultimately secured our their first victory of the campaign in West Hull.
The Warriors absolutely steamrolled Hull FC, putting the brakes on their attacks while racking up four tries in the first half! Liam Marshall and Field kicked things off early, and then Mago muscled his way in with a try after a powerhouse forward charge. Field struck again, thanks to a cheeky kick from French, sending them into halftime with a massive 22-0 lead!
In the second half, Hull FC managed to sneak in a try, but the Warriors weren't having any of it! Forber dashed in for a quick response off a short drop-out, and Field set up Wardle for another try. Then, Field went full superstar, completing his hat-trick from a scrum! To top it all off, French sealed the deal with a final try, wrapping up an epic 46-4 victory! What a show! Let's relive the action:

The Coaches Assessment
John Cartwright
"Wigan took advantage of their chances. They are a very strong team. They’ll be there at the end of the year come Grand Final time. They compete hard, they do the little things well, and they’ve got class around the park. We weren’t quite where we needed to be."
Matt Peet
“I thought it was a strong performance, it looked straightforward in retrospect – coming over here after Hull FC’s result last week, but the event, the enthusiasm around things, they’re doing a lot of things right on and off the field and we knew that we were stepping into a challenge with a really proud Club who were looking to put on a show for their supporters. We managed to get things right at the start of the game and that put us in good stead. We hope Ligi Sao is okay, it was sad to see him go off the way he did.”
The Final Word
There was a chasm so big you could fit a whole football field in it between the top-tier champs and the underdogs still figuring out their game plan! After a tough loss the week prior, SLR anticipated the champions would come out like cannonballs against the black and whites—and boy, did they deliver! With jaw-dropping tries and a dazzling showcase from Jai Field, the Warriors sent a clear message: good luck trying to knock them off their throne this season!
As for Hull FC, they shouldn’t hang their heads too low; it’s not about keeping up with the Warriors but proving themselves against the teams that finished in the bottom six last year. The Airlie Birds are definitely shaping up for a better 2025, but they felt the heat from the Warriors’ relentless attack at MKM Stadium, and John Cartwright knows that’s a lesson he’ll need to tackle head-on in the days to come!
