Castleford Tigers 22 - 14 Salford Red Devils
The stakes were high at The Jungle during a crucial matchup, as both coaches faced immense pressure to secure their first victory of the season. The game embodied two teams striving to establish their footing in the 2025 Betfred Super League, with both sides struggling to complete their sets, resulting in a total of 20 unforced errors.
Currently, the Red Devils are under considerable scrutiny and do not require further criticism from Super League Raw. However, their supporters may find some comfort in Kallum Watkins' impressive assist to Brierley in the first half. Congratulations are also in order for Marc Sneyd, whose three successful conversions brought his career total to 2,501 points, a remarkable achievement. Meanwhile, for the Tigers, there is a sense of relief, along with the emergence of a new fan favourite in Judah Rimbu.
Let's relive the action.

The commentary was ridiculous throughout, not 1 person just said cas played well and deserved the win...was all about salford and their 'struggles', wasnt asthetically pleasing but dug deep and stuck together and got the 2 points. We take it and we grow for catalans in 2 week time - Craig Wallis
Okoro first run out looks useful, hopefully he'll keep it up, Rimbu confidence booster of a game, team wise it's a win so let's take the encouragement out of it 👍Mark Clayton
Excellent performance lads, drastically improved on last week and the win thoroughly deserved. Could’ve been a bit more comfortable too if some strange decisions had not gone against us. Big shout out to Griff, often overlooked but he had a fantastic game tonight, lead from the front and tackled absolutely everything. Top effort 🐯🐯🐯

After the last few weeks, we should all be proud of our lads. It can’t have been easy. Thankfully they’ve all stayed, despite no wages! 🙏🏻
Onwards & upwards
Come on Salford 👹❤️ Lisa Normanton
We're lucky we had a team turn out tonight. Give the lads more respect and grace. It's been turmoil and whatever we think we know....unless we are in the position of those affected ..we can't understand. If you aren't mentally switched on, your performance will suffer. Let's hope the lads can now regroup and start to feel more secure and confident that the storm has passed. For us it's our passion and club, for these lads it's their livelihood and family security on the line. We need to stick with every single player. Back them and they will come good. Fair play to the loyal fans who travelled to Cas. Thick and thin remember. ❤️

Big improvement cut the mistakes out, loads of potential with a fully strong team, couple of decisions a bit iffy, well done boys onwards and upwards, let the haters hate .........oh the biggest iffy decision was sign Chris Hill , past it now just gunna drag us down👹👹👹👹👹Neil Harrison
The Final Word
Danny McGuire will be relived to be off and running having had an uncertain week curtesy of the traumatic situation being faced by their visitors. The game went ahead with a strong Red Devils team facing the Tigers and Danny's men prevailed. You do feel that Castleford need to strengthen their side in the coming weeks if they are going to surpass last years points tally of 15. McGuire has intimated they are looking to do business but many sides are reluctant to loan players so early in the season leaving the Tigers to peruse those plying their trade in the Southern Hemisphere.
The most encouraging aspect of Paul Rowley's team is the evident quality they displayed, suggesting they are far from conceding defeat in 2025. The try scored by Brierley fed by Kallum Watkins exemplified excellence, as he redeemed himself for the yellow card he received that led to Horne's opening try for the Tigers. Additionally, credit is due to Kai Morgan for his exceptional break and poise in setting up Watkins, narrowing the score to 14-12. While the Bradford Bulls will pose a significant challenge for the Red Devils in the upcoming Challenge Cup fixture, a win next week at the SCS could serve as a crucial confidence booster, potentially becoming their primary focus leading up to June 7th.
